We had science yesterday morning. We had science with Mr sterling. We had freezing ice. The dry Ice could burn you but luckily no one got burnt. In our group we had three people. I had Josiah and Jared in my group. Mr Sterling put his goggles on we put our goggles on too. Jared got the dry ice it was freezing. Mr Sterling came and poured the warm water in the big cup. I tipped the dry ice into the cup. I tipped in some of the warm water and it smoked. Jared got more dry ice.

and we helped him. He explained to us what to do and he said “Put on your protective glasses and then he put us into three groups. Tash, Brittany and I were in a group. I got the dry ice. Tash put the ice into the cup and then I put in the warm water.

Yesterday Mr Sterling did science with us. He put dry ice in a rubber glove . Then he put dry ice in a cup and added hot water to a beaker. There was steam . Then we did another one but with two cups of dry ice dish washing liquid and food colouring. It bubbled up. Mine was red. Then he did an air cannon.

Pacifica Celebrations 2009

In term one we found out about the different cultures represented in our school and in our community. Wow, there were lots. We had a visit to the museum to look at the treasures of the Maori tribes represented in our district. We had visitors come in and share their unique cultures with us. At the end we had a big celebration and an umu. An umu is a way of cooking food similar to a hangi.

Our School Rocks

We made a movie to show all the good things that happen in our school and why we like it. We think our school is pretty cool and we know it's because we care about each other, work hard and respect each other. We had been studying what made a good classroom and school community and finding out about how to help each other to achieve the kind of classroom and school we wanted.
